ARTIST BIOGRAPHY:

Robin Eubanks is a musician that is always looking to express and communicate his life through music. Currently, his primary means of doing this is by leading his band, Mental Images, performing with the critically acclaimed, multi-award winning, Dave Holland Quintet and his position as Assistant Professor of Jazz Trombone at the Oberlin Conservatory.

He has long been considered to be at the forefront of new directions in music and on the trombone in particular. His recording, Get 2 It, has received rave reviews. Jazz Times said, "Live, as on record, Eubanks makes it all work artfully, like tiles in an intricate, logical yet intuitive, and slightly surreal mosaic....[he is] one of the finest jazz trombonists alive..."

Robin has studied music and the trombone since he was eight years old and continues to do so. After graduating cum laude from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, he moved to New York to further his development. He's amassed an impressive, varied array of musical experiences. Robin has performed and/or recorded with Elvin Jones' Jazz Machine, Mingus Big Band, the Rolling Stones, Slide Hampton's Jazz Masters, Eddie Palmieri, Talking Heads, Barbra Streisand, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and many others. He's done work on television and film including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Saturday Night Live, "Jungle Fever" and "Mo' Better Blues." He's also performed on Broadway in "Black and Blue," "Dream Girls" and "Grease." Robin lectures and conducts master classes at many leading educational institutons throughout the U.S. and abroad. He's also been a multiple winner of both DownBeat and Swing Journal's International Polls.
